Book Trolley

Need a Book? Borrow one of ours!

We are wondering if you are missing the book trolley that usually sits outside of the Library? We have been trying to work out how we could keep it going whilst the Library has to be closed and decided to try it sitting just inside the gate at No 9 on the High Street (next to the Bakery).

We’ll put it out when entire mornings and/or afternoons are expected to stay dry.

How We Met Covid-19 Head On

Long Buckby is hugely proud of our response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have come together as we always knew we would, united in helping everyone through these challenging times: individuals, families and businesses.

There are so many doing so many great things that most people will never know about but this video gives just a hint of what this village is all about and also speaks for those not shown but who have, and still are, there for everyone.

What’s Happening

Sadly, we are still not able to reopen. However, we are not standing still!

We have been revamping the kitchen with the help of some donations in kind and the dedicated work of volunteers. We are developing plans to improve all of our garden areas over the next 12-15 months, to create safe and inclusive spaces for relaxation with others. We continue to fundraise and we have had some recent application successes, please see our Grants page. And in the meantime the Library borrow a book trolley can still be found outside No 9 High Street during fine weather.

Library Reopening News

Following recent government guidelines we have been advised that Northamptonshire Country Council are reopening libraries across the county in a phased operation, please see their message below. Unfortunately Long Buckby will not be in the early wave of openings.

Art Group

The Buckby Meadows Art Group have been hard at work creating artwork focussed on the beautifully expressive Emu. Our work was inspired by the artist, Carol Kibble, who was featured in the SAA magazine in May 2018.

Do look out for our Emu of the week!

Darcey Duck and the Epic Battle of Buckby by Arabella Florance

Have you heard of Arabella’s book? We really appreciate that Arabella cares so much about the library because we do too! We do hope that Arabella’s book will help generate awareness and support to keep libraries open all over the country. We are working hard to keep the library available for her and everyone in Long Buckby and nearby communities when we emerge from lockdown.
