Having had a general interest in art, sketching and watercolour painting, throughout my life once I retired from full time work in education, over the past 15 years I have taken the opportunity to pursue this in greater depth…..
Initially I joined the Dodford art group under the guidance and support of Wyn Morris, a well known artist from Long Buckby. This group I continue to attend and have found great pleasure and comradeship from the group members. With some trepidation I attended first day and then residential classes at Windrush Gallery in the Cotswolds and Dedham Hall, Suffolk. These I found most valuable, not only in extending my experience and knowledge buat alsoby being taught by nationally renowned watercolour artists such as Steve Hall, Jake Winkle, Paul Weaver, David Bellamy and Andy Everson (USA). My confidence grew in painting outdoors although I do paint from photos taken myself or some from the internet.
The main lesson I have learned is – do not be afraid and have a go. The results can be quite surprising although not always fore the better!
