Alongside the Summer Reading Challenge 2024 Marvellous Makers, we are participating in the WNC competition to celebrate what you love most about where you live. We would like all of you young artists to create an artwork showcasing what you love about where you live.
This could be your local park, shops, school, cafe or even our library. Open to all young artists aged 5-12 years old you can submit one artwork in the form of a painting, drawing, photograph or model. READ MORE
Please use recycled or reused materials to make your models. Submissions that use high value materials
such as Lego cannot be accepted. Artists can collaborate and submit an artwork as a group, or one that you have created for a school project. Your completed application form MUST accompany the artwork.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Dimensions of artworks –
~ 2D pieces, such as drawings, paintings and photographs must not exceed 21cm x 30cm (A4).
~ 3D pieces, such as models, must not exceed the dimensions: length 30cm, width 21cm and
height 21cm.
Submission of entries:
All submissions should be delivered to Buckby Library & Hub from 2nd September 2024 to 12noon on 6th September 2024 inclusive Entries MUST be accompanied with a completed application form. No entries will be accepted outside of these dates or without a completed application form. Submissions will be displayed in libraries, and judged, during week commencing 9th September. Due to restrictions on space in some of our libraries, the entries displayed may be rotated.
Judging of entries:
The judge, Lisa Lovett, will select one artwork from each West Northamptonshire Council Library to go through to the area final where they will be part of an exhibition at the Gathering Space, Grosvenor Shopping Centre, Northampton. The young artists whose artworks have been chosen will be notified by 5pm on Monday 16th September 2024 . The judges may also choose some pieces that they think deserve to be highly commended and these artists will receive a certificate when they collect their artwork.
Competition Information
Collection of unselected artworks: If you haven’t been notified that your artwork has been selected for the grand final you must collect it from Buckby Libraty & Hub from Tuesday 17th September 2024 to Saturday 21st September 2024 inclusive. Any artworks not collected by closing time on Saturday 21st September 2024 will be disposed of.
GDPR:
The information you provide will be handled in line with our privacy notice which can be found on the West Northamptonshire Council website. The information you provide will only be used to administer the “Love Where You Live” competition. It will be kept securely and only accessed by staff when needed. It will not be shared with any other organisations save for the Grosvenor Shopping Centre. All personal information will be securely destroyed following the conclusion of the exhibition in the library or at the Grosvenor Shopping Centre.
Insurance:
Artworks are submitted for selection at the artist’s own risk. They will be handled with care but the libraries don’t accept liability for loss or damage during the storage, selection and exhibition process.
Display of artworks:
Every effort will be made to put all entries on display however this will not always be possible.
Neither the selection or placing of the artwork in the library is open to discussion.
Copyright and publicity:
Copyright remains with the artist; however by submitting it to this competition the artist agrees that photographs and videos of their artwork can be used for promotional purposes.
